Beneath The Surface

In June 2019, a group of New Brunswick craftspeople immersed themselves in the wonders of Fundy National Park for five days. They were given the time and space to develop new ideas as they experienced the natural landscapes of New Brunswick, stimulated by scientific processes that shape and change the natural world.

Beneath the Surface 2019 is a group exhibition of works by participating artists in response to their experience in the Park. These artists have pushed the boundaries of their regular practice and undertaken substantial, ambitious work which will tour various galleries in New Brunswick.

Featured artists include:

Anna Mathis
Ashley Anne Clark
Beth Biggs
Denise Violette Michaud

A Barnacle was the start. Such a vulnerable creature crouched in its protective shield of shell. Isolated but safe. The shield of my making broke apart; becoming swirling forms beautifully unique, spiraling and dancing in synergistic abandon.
